Diverse Encounters - Publication
Diverse Encounters is a limited edition artists’ book presented as a spiral bound ‘ sketchbook’ of sixty pages on 200 gsm art paper and trace overlays, printed in colour.
It follows the sequence of the nine part piano cycle ‘Arabesques’ and consists of photographs of the Alhambra, images of paintings and associated studies, fragments of musical sketches and a score of one piece which can be played. It includes studio and location shots combined with personal written commentaries on the evolution of the project. There are also statements about Ann's and Peter’s work and their collaborative project by other artists and writers, together with translated quotations from writings about the Alhambra.
The book has been designed in collaboration with graphic designer Margaret Swift and photographer David Wright to provide a unique insight into both artistic process and the enduring beauty of the Alhambra, Granada which is at the heart of this project.
It is available at the Burton Gallery until the 31st July and by individual request afterwards through the Contact Page of this website
